How to calculate your age
Enter your date of birth and the result appears instantly. The calculator counts full calendar years since your birth, then full months since your most recent birthday and finally the remaining days. Months are counted by calendar date – from the 15th of one month to the 15th of the next – so months of different lengths are handled correctly.
Why is age counted this way?
This “years, months, days” method is the standard used on official forms, school admissions, insurance and retirement eligibility. Some cultures have their own conventions – traditional East Asian age reckoning, for example, counts a newborn as one year old – but the international calendar method is what this tool uses.

Frequently asked questions
How is exact age calculated?
We count complete years since your birth date, then complete months since your last birthday, then the remaining days. This matches how age is normally stated (e.g. 34 years, 2 months and 5 days).
What if I was born on February 29?
In non-leap years your birthday is treated as February 28, which is the most common legal convention. Some jurisdictions use March 1 instead.
