🇯🇴 Jordan End of Service Calculator

Say whether you were registered with the Social Security Corporation and how the job ended. We apply Articles 23, 25 and 32 of Labour Law No. 8 of 1996, with partial years counted pro rata.

Quick answer: In Jordan a worker not covered by social security gets an end-of-service bonus of one month’s last wage per year of service, for any reason the job ends (Labour Law Art. 32). For example, JOD 600 a month for 7 years gives JOD 4,200. Workers covered by social security get SSC benefits instead.

Two groups of workers

Jordan’s Labour Law No. 8 of 1996 treats end-of-service money differently depending on whether you are registered with the Social Security Corporation (SSC). Most private-sector employees are, and they are protected through SSC pensions and benefits. The employer-paid bonus in Article 32 is for workers not covered by social security.

Rules applied

EntitlementAmountArticle
End-of-service bonus (not covered by social security)1 month’s last wage per year, pro rata for partial years32
Arbitrary dismissal (court ruling)½ month’s wage per year, minimum 2 months25
Notice1 month’s written notice, or 1 month’s wage in lieu23
Employer savings or pension schemePaid on top under the scheme’s rules33

Bonus = Wage × years (not covered) · Arbitrary dismissal = max(Wage × ½ × years, Wage × 2)

Worked example

A worker on JOD 600 a month, not registered with social security, leaves after 7 years:

  • End-of-service bonus: 600 × 7 = JOD 4,200
  • If the court rules the dismissal arbitrary: 600 × ½ × 7 = JOD 2,100 more
  • If no notice was given: JOD 600 more

Social security context

Under Social Security Law No. 1 of 2014, insured private-sector workers pay 7.5% of their wage and employers 14.25%, on a wage capped at JOD 3,733 a month in 2026. Those contributions fund the old-age pension, unemployment allowance, work-injury and maternity benefits that replace the Article 32 bonus.

Fixed-term contracts

If an employer ends a fixed-term contract early without a legal reason, Article 26 entitles the worker to the wages for the rest of the term – this calculator does not model that case.

Frequently asked questions

Who gets an end-of-service bonus in Jordan?

Article 32 of the Labour Law grants it to workers who are not covered by the Social Security Law, whatever the reason the service ended – including resignation. It is one month’s last wage for each year of actual service, with partial years paid pro rata.

I am covered by social security – do I get anything from my employer?

Not the Article 32 bonus: your end-of-service protection comes from the Social Security Corporation (old-age pension, early retirement or a lump-sum payment). Article 33 adds any savings, provident or pension scheme your employer runs on top.

How much is arbitrary dismissal compensation in Jordan?

If the court finds a dismissal arbitrary in a case filed within 60 days, Article 25 lets it order reinstatement or compensation of half a month’s wage per year of service, with a minimum of two months’ wage – plus notice pay and the Article 32 and 33 entitlements.

What is the notice period in Jordan?

Article 23 requires at least one month’s written notice to end an open-ended contract. An employer who ends the contract without it owes one month’s wage in lieu of notice.

Is the Labour Law changing?

An amending law approved by Parliament raises maternity leave to 90 days and states that a regulation will define arbitrary dismissal cases and entitlements. Until that regulation is issued, the Article 25 formula above applies – check the Ministry of Labour for updates.
