🎲 Random Number Generator

Generate one or up to 1,000 random numbers in any range – whole numbers or decimals, with or without repeats – right in your browser.

Quick answer: Set the minimum to 1 and the maximum to 100 to draw a random whole number from 1 to 100; each value has a 1 in 100 (1%) chance. Numbers are generated in your browser with its cryptographically secure random generator.

How the generator works

Every number is drawn in your browser using the Web Crypto API, the same source of randomness used for encryption keys. It produces 53 random bits per draw, which are scaled to your range so that every possible value is equally likely.

Whole numbers: value = min + ⌊r × (max − min + 1)⌋, where 0 ≤ r < 1

Options explained

  • Minimum and maximum: both ends are included, so 1 to 6 behaves like a die.
  • How many: draw up to 1,000 numbers at once.
  • Type: whole numbers or decimals with 1–10 decimal places.
  • Duplicates: allow repeats for independent draws (like rolling dice) or forbid them for raffles and lotteries (like drawing tickets from a hat).
  • Order: keep the draw order or sort the results.

Probability examples

SettingChance of a given result
One number, 1–101 in 10 (10%)
One number, 1–1001 in 100 (1%)
Coin flip (1–2)1 in 2 (50%)
Die roll (1–6)1 in 6 (≈16.7%)
6 different numbers from 1–491 in 13,983,816 for a full match

Common uses

  • Choosing a raffle or giveaway winner by ticket number.
  • Picking random students, questions or samples for a survey.
  • Board games, dice replacements and classroom activities.
  • Generating test data or shuffling an order.

Tips

  • When duplicates are not allowed, you can’t request more numbers than exist in the range – the form will tell you the limit.
  • Each press of Generate gives a fresh, independent result; previous draws don’t influence the next.
  • For a fair giveaway, publish the range and settings before you draw.

Frequently asked questions

Are these numbers truly random?

They come from your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), which is seeded from hardware and operating-system entropy. It is suitable for games, raffles and sampling – nothing is sent to or stored on our servers.

How do I pick lottery numbers?

Set the range of your lottery (for example 1 to 49), set how many numbers to draw (for example 6) and choose “No – all different” so no number repeats. Sort smallest first to read them easily.

Can I generate random decimals?

Yes. Choose Decimals as the type and pick 1 to 10 decimal places. Every value with that precision in your range is equally likely.

Why did I get the same number twice?

With repeats allowed, each draw is independent, so duplicates happen naturally – drawing 10 numbers from 1–100 gives at least one repeat about 37% of the time. Choose “No – all different” to prevent them.
